You probably hit backspace. Are you using Internet Exploder?

Unfortuntely yes. Need to remember to ask roomies permission to download firefox on her laptop....

This has bitten me too. On the rare instances that I know I'm going to write a long post, I usually just do it in a text file, then copy-paste it into LJ when I'm ready.

Live journal is supposed to auto save drafts now... have you tried to restore it from a draft? It's worth a try just in case LJ caught it before you navigated away from the page.

I immediately hit the back button to return to my page.. and it didn't ask me if I wanted to restore. And I don't know of any way to pull that up on my own. I looked @.@

The next time something like that happens, consider closing the window, then reopening LJ and attempting to post in a new session (or tab). It should definitely ask if you want to restore from a saved draft. Try a practice one.

Sucky! I don't really know how to do it either. I just remember one time I started a post at work, and then emailed it to myself because I didn't get it finished and when I got home and went to post it, it asked me to restore from a draft and I didn't even realize that I had saved it somehow O.o Maybe it only does it when you close the browser though or something? :(

Nice thing about Firefox is, usually if you hit the back button fast enough, your post is still there. I've saved more RP posts that I would have horribly mourned the loss of that way than I can even count.
